Understanding what to expect from Reiki sessions and guided meditation.

Your Questions, Answered

If you are new to energy-based practices or simply want to understand how sessions are structured, the answers below address the most common questions clients ask. These insights are designed to provide clarity and help you approach the work with confidence and ease.

Is Reiki safe alongside medical treatment?

Yes. Reiki is a complementary therapy and is intended to work alongside your existing medical care. It does not diagnose, treat, or replace medical or psychological treatment. Many clients seek sessions while under the care of physicians, specialists, or therapists. My work remains within professional scope and respects your broader care team.

How does Reiki support the body?

Reiki is associated with activation of the parasympathetic nervous system — the body’s rest-and-repair state. When the nervous system shifts out of chronic stress response, the body can redirect energy toward regulation, recovery, and restoration. Sessions are structured to support this physiological settling.

What happens during a virtual session?

Sessions are conducted via Zoom. You remain fully clothed in a comfortable position in your own space. We begin with a brief, structured check-in, followed by approximately 45–50 minutes of Reiki. A short integration conversation closes the session. There is no requirement to speak during the energy portion unless you choose to.

Do I need to believe in Reiki for it to work?

No belief system is required. Reiki is approached here as a regulation-based modality. Many clients experience measurable shifts in relaxation, breathing patterns, and stress levels regardless of spiritual orientation.

What if I experience emotional release?

Emotional shifts can occur as the nervous system moves out of protective tension. This is handled within a trauma-informed framework. You are never required to process verbally, and your pacing is always respected. Sessions prioritize safety and containment.

How many sessions are recommended?

This depends on your goals and current stress load. Some clients book a single session for acute stress support. Others choose a short series (3–6 sessions) to encourage more consistent nervous system regulation. We can determine a structure that feels clinically appropriate for you.

What does a session typically feel like?

Experiences vary. Common reports include warmth, subtle pulsing sensations, deep relaxation, emotional softening, or mental clarity. Some clients feel very little during the session but notice improved sleep or mood in the days following.

Can Reiki help with chronic illness or autoimmune conditions?

Reiki does not cure or treat medical conditions. However, reducing physiological stress and improving nervous system regulation may support overall wellbeing. Many individuals managing chronic illness seek complementary therapies that focus on calming systemic stress response.

Is this psychotherapy or medical treatment?

No. Reiki is a complementary modality and is not a substitute for psychotherapy, medical diagnosis, or medical treatment. It is designed to support regulation and restoration while you continue appropriate medical or mental health care.

What if I fall asleep during the session?

Sleep is common and often indicates that the nervous system has entered a state of safety. Reiki continues whether you are awake or asleep.
